I agree with Stephanie. It is very important to keep your balance under 30% of your limit on the cards. You will loose points because the credit card companies will pull your credit report. It is not good to apply for credit cards more than every 6 months.

More information is at http://getnointerestcreditcards.com

Yes and No

Having a few credit cards with no balance can be good
Having any cards with a revolving balance is not good at all

on one hand it will establish credit, but on the other it will be frowned upon by other lending companies as revolving debt, and revolving debt is not good credit. They can see that this is an easy way for you to rack up debt in a matter of days, and be at your max debt limit, meaning you are a risk. Consider trasnfering the balance of one or two of the cards over. I suggest that you have only 1 card. Make sure that if you transfer the balance or pay off the balance of any card that you send a letter asking them to close the account. You must do this or the account will seem to stay open, whether you are using it or not.

The key to maintaining a good credit score is to keep a low balance (below 50% of the high limit) on your accounts. But, you must understand that the more often your credit report is pulled by creditors you will increase the number of inquiries to your credit report. However, this will only negatively effect your credit score in a minor way. Adding a new credit card and keeping a low balance on it might even increase your score.

The only effect will be the couple of points you might lose for the inquire.

Other then that as long as your balances are below 30% of your limits and your payments are mad as agreed it should actually help your score since your debt to credit ratio should be lower.

This is becoming common practice on the internet. (similar to when you get a check in the mail and it says in small print that cashing it signs you up for XYZ ). It's all part of marketing.

You should never assume that your order has gone thru until you get a confirmation #, Make sure you print the page with that number on it.. and check your account for purchases.

They didn't dupe you. Your not reading is not their misdeed.

You didn't notice that you hadn't been charged for the tickets? (You also, of course, never got a confirmation.)

The number of miles depends entirely on the carrier in question. Carriers who are likely to serve this route include United, American, JAL, All Nippon Airways, Northwest, and probably more.

First step: Find out WHAT kind of miles they have. Which airline are they good with.

Second step: Find that airline's award travel chart on their webpage.

Third step: Check that airline's web site for award availability. Your friend may need to log into his account to do this. Alternately, you may try calling. There is often a fee (up to $25) for booking by phone, but the phone agents may be able to help you by searching for alternate dates or searching for tickets provided on "partner" carriers.

One thing to note: if your friend doesn't really have "miles" but instead has points with a credit card not affiliated with a specific airline - all bets are off. These programs work completely differently, and the only way to find out what the requirements and availability are would be to call the credit card company.
